Keira Takes on the West End

The Times Online have a new article and interview with Keira about The Misanthrope. There is also a new pictures. I will add it to the gallery soon (or when I find a better version!). Click on the link to read more.

Knightley: I play Jennifer, a movie star. She intrigues me. I don’t know whether “like” would be the right word. I think she’s interesting. Ambition is one thing that drives her, and an incredible wish to please. Everybody says throughout that they can’t quite get a handle on what she is. That’s because she presents different faces to different people. You meet her on a day when she’s very much performing for a load of people. She performs in a very specific way, which is to use her sexuality incredibly overtly.

“Innocent Lies” DVD Screen Captures

Keira Knightley Fan never had proper DVD screen captures of young Keira in Innocent Lies before now, so I thought it was worth posting about it even though Laura and I are still working on the gallery! Keira had a larger role than I thought (but still small) and she appears in short scenes throughout the movie. The movie is from 1995 and Keira was around nine or ten years old.

Keira gets “My Fair Lady”

The Telegraph has announced today that Keira has won the part of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady! She has beat out competition from Scarlett Johansson and Joe Wright is also said to be directing, this will be the third time the pair will work together!

The Telegraph – Mandrake hears that the 24-year-old actress has beaten Scarlett Johansson to the part of Eliza Doolittle in a new film adaptation of My Fair Lady.
Her victory comes as I can disclose that Joe Wright, who inspired Knightley to her best performance, in Pride and Prejudice, has been chosen to direct the film.

Keira in “The Misanthrope”

The Daily Mail reports that Keira will appear in a play called The Misanthrope alongside Damian Lewis and Tara Fitzgerald. The show will commence its run in December and Keira will play Jennifer.

Keira Knightley has cancelled her close-ups in front of movie cameras for a while so she can make her stage debut in the West End in December.

Last night, the Oscar-nominated actress was said to be ‘terrified but excited’ about appearing in a modern-day version of Moliere’s 17th century masterpiece The Misanthrope, in which she will play a flirtatious Hollywood film star, joining an ensemble cast led by Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre actor Damian Lewis, who plays the title role.

Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan will also star. Rehearsals start the middle of next month, with preview performances at the Comedy Theatre from December 7 and an official opening night on December 17.
